An automatic eighteen carat and stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust reference 16233 model. This example has the more unusual silver dial with classic 'stick' markers and a black printRoman numeral chapter ring running around the edge. These examples are more often seen with the gold, or champagne coloured dials. This is a slightly softer version of this watch, and wears well for people that enjoy wearing white metal as well as gold. All original lume plots are in tact as well as in the hands, and are not re-finished.
The watch is powered by a Rolex, Swiss made, twenty seven jewel automatic calibre 3135 movement that powered the majority of all Rolex models since its launch in the late 1980's, from the Datejust to the Submariner. These later models can be identified as they do not have the earlier, characteristic, 'pie pan' style dial, this example features a sapphire crystal, not the earlier acrylic. This model also comes with the more ergonomic 'Quick Set' date function, and the newly designed smaller profile case, all of which were introduced in the 1970's. This case still has the spring bar holes exposed from the side, which was eventually phased out around the early 2000's. The watch is fitted to its original Rolex Jubilee stainless steel bracelet with seven removable links in place, which, if needed, can be removed to make the bracelet smaller. The bracelet has year code of "M8", for 1988 making it the original bracelet. There is a slight sag to it, but not detrimental to wearing it. It is also unpolished.
The watch was made circa early 1998 with serial number R578XXX. The watch is presented in a totally "full" capacity. It has the original outer box, inner box, hang tag with serial number, Oyster brochure, Datejust brochure and Rolex paperwork from retailer Bailey Banks & Biddle. The watch really is a superb example of one of the brand's most iconic watches. A more complete example will not be found.
The watch comes with a Foundwell one year warranty against mechanical failure.
